Screenshots: In game, press F5, this will take a screenshot. This is saved to your C:\Valve\Steam\SteamAPPs\(account name)\team fortress\tfc folder. Open up MS Paint (or just Paint, found in your start bar, under accessories), and then open up the screenshot in paint, then click 'save as'. At the bottom, you will see the name of it in the file (this is fine) and under that as .bmp image. Change this to a .GIF or .JPEG, and resave it.
Next, find a free online hosting site (imageshack: http://www.imageshack.us/ is a good one, just press 'browse' and find the image on your computer(make sure its the .GIF or .JPEG that you pick, and not the BMP)), then upload the image.
Use the:
Code: |
|
to link to the url (should be given by the site).
All other pictures:
If its on another site, you can link it through, simply right click on the picture, and click properties. The URL to the image can be found there. Then simply do the
Code: |
|
thing.
If its something besides a screenshot on your computer, take the same steps as you would the screenshot.
Any other image posting questions are free to be asked. |

If you have it, use photoshop to save it as a jpeg instead of paint
much high quality and you can still have the image under 100k |

Note: Linking to images on other sites may not work if hotlinking prevention is in place.
Other free image hosting providers:
Photo Bucket
Image Dump
(google them) |

You can reduce the size. Avatars should be limited to 80 X 80...that's what's set in the management panel of the forums. IF you link to one offsite...it apparently can be bigger. Some here have avatars well above this limit.
The limit is there for UPLOADED images as it is ME who hosts them. If you want to link to one offsite...just keep it reasonable. |

You should increase those default limits, they suck
96x96 is standard avatar size, also used by MSN.
128x128 will nicely fit onto the left column of phpBB < recommended.
6kb = pants
64kb = quite large
24kb = nice fit |
