The map.bsp and map.txt should download fine without the .res file. If the map has additional gfx, models, sprites, sounds etc...those need to be put in the .res file or they will not download...at all. Even on trickle down from the server itself.
Do you have downloads enabled in your client config.cfg.

How do I change what the page says when you first join, you know the one where you have to click ok? Did you already say something about it, if so sorry for this post. And now when I try to start up my server it says that it is missing models/Feather.mdl.  |

That would be the motd.txt file (message of the day). Whatever is put in this file is what folks see when they first connect to the server. Edit this file to say whatever you want it to. You'll find it in your servers tfc folder.
As far as the missing model...feather.mdl; that's used for the chickenmod. If your server is missing this file, I'm sure you'll find it in your steam client install. It's used on our main server. You'll find it in your...team fortress classic\tfc\models...folder. Copy it to your servers tfc\models folder and fire her up.  |

My banner used to work...I think steam broke it again. Besides, if you run a pop up blocker...you won't see it anyway.
Does anyone see a banner when downloading maps or custom stuff for the maps on our server.
This is what you should see when you download something from the server:
All I see is a pink box on the steam download box cause I run a popup blocker. |

| I didn't think anybody saw it. I saw it once when I turned off my popup blocker. I also thought I read in the steam forums that it worked at one time but those morons broke it...glad it works. |
