Torrents, to me at least, have been a vast improvement over newsgroups. The whole "scene" was started with the groups from the very beginning, but I feel that's all changed. Torrents just make it so much easier to search, review and download.
I personally use uTorrent.
If you're in a hurry...torrents are the way to go. Still, newsgroups turn up some interesting stuff sometimes. |

Yeah I've been using torrents for years now. They definitely have the better selection, but Newsgroups provide the faster downloads. Also, you won't get in trouble with your ISP for downloading from Newsgroups because of SSL and the fact that it's straight from an FTP server. |

dont know where your downloading from... Torrents max my 5mb downstream. Most are very very quick. IRC bots are good as well, if they are found. Alot of bots on IRC run on FIOS |
