I'd read up and downloaded this a couple of weeks ago, but had yet to install it. Since I've recently discovered the merits of torrents over other methods, it would make sense to use. 
Doubt this would help Koop though.  |

Dude thats stupid. I've downloaded countless movies, tv shows, anime, music, and software through torrents, all highly illegal, but Charter has never said s**t to me.
Cox cable is whack. But I still have to laugh at you for having your internet straight up revoked by your ISP. So...

As Chips said, it wouldn't help Koop at all, as it's his ISP that's doing all the snooping.
Basically what Peer Guardian does, is that it keeps an updated IP block list from their server. What this list does, is blocks any connection from any blacklisted IP to your computer. The IPs that are blacklisted are pretty much from companies that are known to have been fairly active in anti-piracy. (maybe someone could explain that last part better).
You will need to customize it, though. Among the blacklisted IPs are those that use Steam, and for the people that use it, xfire. It is possible to allow those IPs to unblock them, but I gave up on Steam, since there's so many. What this pretty much leaves you up to is to torrent + peer guardian when you're not running steam, which is no biggie. I mean after all, torrenting while gaming is fairly silly anyway. |
