Hi Zim!
Welcome to the forums - new players are always welcome. Your english isn't too bad either. And Gymnasiums are equivalent to the better high schools.
Unfortunately, you've come when a lot of us are a lot less active than we used to be, but welcome anyway! |

really? that's so weird.. what part of germany are you from? when i lived in berlin that's what everyone said... and i also just checked my dictionary which has it as absorb and then double checked online... perhaps it was how i worded it?
how would you personally say that you can absorb milk really well? |

i came from Dresden, Saxony (in english, or? in german Sachsen)
i think that can be a kind of slang in berlin...
i would never say "ich kann dich gut absorbieren" that sounds crazy... i would just say "Ich kann dich gut leiden" or "du bist in Ordnung"...
absorb came from the latin "absorptio" or "absorbere" and means soak up...
(german wikipedia )
isn't it so?
and what do you want to say with "[...] that you can absorb milk really well?"?
that you like milk? how i would say this? |

Absorptio means drink or beverage, it's a noun. While absorbere can mean absorb, and is a verb. Combibere would be a better word choice(if you're talking in latin), at least that's probably what I'd use, but I don't know german either, just latin. Sorry, latin's my strong point. I love it. |

"absorbieren" is in german more used in technical language e.g. a plant absorb the light...
or if somebody think it is funny to say:" i am going to absorb my meal"... |

I wanted to be the first one in here to say I speak german (incredibly little) but Snape beat me like she always does.
Also welcome! |

LOL!! It's from invader zim! in the best friend episode! he wants to know how absorbent his friends are before he picks his best friend so he makes them soak up milk!
hee hee, and i think there was something lost here... i know what absorb means! lol
i was just really confused when i said "ich kann milch sehr gut absorbieren" and you said that i had said i really want to eat you. so, i thought absorbieren was maybe slang for eating where you're from. |

Welcome aboard Zim
As Chance! said...many of us aren't as active in TFC as we used to be. But, we still have three league teams and enough financial interest (for now) to keep this place up and running.
Always nice to see someone outside of the US coming around.
While on the forums...beware of low flying spam. ©®™ |
