i started lifting freshman year in high school (im a junior now) but i would lift for a while then stop.. then lift for a while then stop. i started in sept last year and kept at a slow pace of only lifting like once or twice a week then i kept up till about 2 weeks ago when indoor track ended. so im prob weaker by now, but my max ever was 215 once Cool Laughing. still not really close to my body weight (235), but im only 16, so i have many more years of getting stronger ahead of me. ive been buggin my mom to buy a membership to a fitness center place nearby so i can work out everyday but shes been lazy and hasnt gotten around to it yet Confused Rolling Eyes

yeah being a part of a gym is so much easier than trying to do it at home w/ a set of old weights and a bench lol. And you get to work out so much more than just ur arms and chest. Also the one i have has like everything a pool, track, bball court and i have a couple friends who joined too so it makes it that much easier with motivation.

Studies have shown that weight lifting a lot during the early years of your life can massively restrict bone growth, and strength later on in life.

yes, you are correct td... but when i started i was at the end of that young age time. if you lift a lot as a small kid speaking younger than 12 or 13 then yes your stength will be impaired later on in life. i started liftinfg freshman year, 14 years old... and i didnt get very far. i started at lifting 90 lbs and worked up to only 115 lbs doing 3 sets of 10 each time only in freshman year. it was last year at age 15 that i really started to get serious with lifting and got to lifting about 180 lbs for a max (up to about 140 3 sets of 10 normally) at age 15 i had pretty much slowed down in growing ( i have only grown about 1/4 inch since last year) so the restricting of bone growth and strength doesnt really apply to me, right?

after typing this i realize that this is getting off topic, so should we start a new one on this subject?
