yeah, I saw most of it, I really liked it, I need to see the few episodes I missed. Also, if you haven't seen Paprika, you need to. Especially if you liked Paranoia Agent.

Bebop is one of the best series to date hands down. I don't know if I would say it's THE best, but it's pretty damn close. Mushroom samba is probably my favorite episode Laughing

i'm forcing myself to watch evangelion right, might be the worst anime i've ever seen.

i've become an anime freak lately. I like a lot of the dramas and comedies. I dig the harem stuff and i especially like ecchi stuff. I would bump up Bleach, FMA, and Basilisk. Those are all definitely "Good" anime imo. I've been watching bleach a lot lately, I'm all caught up with the sub versions and downloading the new ones from dattebayo on wednesdays. But damn, how the anime goes off and does its own thing with stupid filler arcs. Like the Bount arc, wtf was that crap? And now, right when things get interesting and Ichigo kills Grimmjow we're all the sudden thrown back into soul society because of some new Captain I dont give two s**ts about. Wtf is this.

FMA would be ranked quite a bit higher, if it didn't have such a crappy ending. The ending felt very rushed. They really should have either not bothered with the going to nazi germany part, or should have spent another 13-26 episodes explaining and working it out better. The movie, which was ment to tie up some of it all, was almost absurd IMO.
Basilisk had a rather lame plot to it I thought... basically a gimmick to set up your 10 people who will fight 10 people. This was kind of shallow to me. Some of the characters were cool, but in the end it really offered nothing special that I found.
One of the most basic aspects for an anime to reach "good" status for me, is it has an ending. An ending is necessary to have a full story and shows that the true intent of the author is to tell the story... and not necessarily as much about the money. Bleach not only has no ending so far (after over 150 episodes and 300 chapters), but I can't tell if there will be an ending that soon either. IF Bleach is able to come to an ending after the next arc/set of episodes, I'd consider moving it up. If it opts out for the money road, it will stay where it is. But at the moment, it offers the same ideas and plots over and over again. Filler is necessary, unfortunately. The anime can't be made until the manga is far enough ahead. The manga, at the moment, is doing filler also as the author of bleach, kubo tite, is on vacation. Though honestly, I'm almost finding this filler in the manga more interesting than the main story itself...
Part of the thing for me is also rating anime based on how I rated other anime. For instance, I thought something like wolfs rain was done very well, but when it comes to how all around how perfect a series like Higurashi was, they just aren't on the same level.
The things that got my top rating, are all:
#1 Fairly original worlds, or a good twist on the normal world.
#2 Don't break the boundaries of their own world (for instance, in FMA, they kind of ditch the whole aspect of equivalent exchange about 20 episodes in)
#3 Are capable of decent plot twists - not easily forseen and well executed.
#4 Have decently rounded and/or, to some extent, original characters and character developement.
#5 Do not have, or very little, random crap/filler that doesn't make any sense.
#6 Have good closure in the end.

I have to agree with you about the ending for FMA, it did seem rushed, and the fact that the anime simply STOPS, and the movie contains the actually "ending" to the story did seem, for lack of a better word, ridiculous.

Bleach, to me, is a totally different kind of entertainment then what I would consider "good anime". I still think its a good show, but for totally different reasons then, say, Death Note. It's the same stuff, over and over, and the way they explain things so they make sense with the rest of the story is just stupid at times. But I really like this anime because of the fight scenes. Its just fun to watch, regardless of how silly it is sometimes. I love the idea of the Zanpaktou, Shikai and Bankai. Hollows, Shinigami, Vizards, and Arrancar, all these different groups of bad asses constantly duking it out. I've always liked anything revolving around samurai or fighting with a katana, so this is right up my alley. I just hope it doesn't go the way of DBZ, where all the characters become SO powerful they can blow up planets and what not, thats just out of control. There needs to be a limit to power, or the series will never end.

Basilisk, imo, was wonderful. It's really the story of Romeo and Juliet, just with a lot more violence! I think the ending couldn't have been better. It ended perfectly, and the final scene is a tear jerker even if you saw it coming through the entire series.
