If you alrady paid a game server provider, they're supposed to do the initial set up for you. I've put together a TF2 server over the weekend; it's nothing like the others to set up...quite different.
There are no admin tools that work with it at this time, so just worry about getting the basic server set up going. |

Yeah, uhhh so I'm an expert. I've done lots of set ups and have a great set of tools like wrenches and stuff. Just mail me about 200 and we'll get this started. I PM'd you the address. |

Seriously, you have no idea what I've gone through the past week setting up servers on my home connection for both FF and TF2. Neither was released with guides to setting up servers...you kind of have to count on those in the community and searching on forums for the answers you need.
TF2 was the most difficult...as dedicated server set up is so different from what I'm used to. Much confusion was seen in the community as to how to do this. Couple that with the pounding on valve's bandwith to try and get the server files...it was a mess. There are currently no admin tools that will work with TF2...SourceMod works with FF, but there's hardly any game specific plugins and those I have gotten to work, I rewrote the scripts myself.
Add to that that there will be patches coming often for these games that need to be applied to your server setup...sometimes, it's hard to stay current. I can help you with the basics...and pass on what I've learned. |

Isn't there an often ignored section specifically made for this sort of stuff? |

Tah ha!! I guess you guy's dont read "wife code" PAID FOR just means I have slowly stolen my own money from myself, so I have a stash for a server. Havent set one up yet. Need help. Do you have to go through steam provider's? Cant you pay a T-1 sever company, and run an independent provider. Am I talkin out my ass. Happy $200.00 sounds good to me. When can you start? |
