Chips, do you know of any good TF2 servers? I haven't played much TF2 because I'm too lazy to find a good server. Whenever I use the in-game browser, it won't let me connect to games. I have to do some file deletions (serverbrowser.___ something like that) and it's easier to just enter console and type "connect xxx.xxx..xx.xx:xxxxx) Sad

Yea, our servers get hopping at night and usually stay that way until 3:00-4:00 AM. Then when all the British guys go to sleep, they die until they start up again the next evening. Sadly, we are a bit slow with adding all the plugins people seem to want. But, by Friday, all should be well with all 4 of them. Very Happy

Just updated all servers to INSTANT RESPAWN. Guess thats one of the best plugins as, the servers have been full ever since we put that on.
Next....our coders are attempting to add HLXStats......and if they cant, I'll be bugging Dino for some info. Laughing

No. Instant respawn is a joke, it makes offense that much harder. When you take out the 95% of the team on D, they spawn right in front of the flag/CP.

Instant Respawn is Fun for those CS:S Players who also can't get enough of GunGame and such; All they want is more kill Kill KILL, with as few interruptions as possible.
I find that a 10-15 second respawn works pretty well, though.

aw, way to gay up the servers. I wont join servers with instant respawn its not how the game is suppose to be played, and much more important not how I want to play it.

Agreed. I'll play on these ones if I want to just do some killing and what not, but if I really feel like playing, then instant respawn is lame, makes D easier than it already is.

Valve has already started filtering out 32 player servers. It won't be long that they'll start filtering out servers that are running instant respawn. And probably for a good reason. As stated, neither of these options is what Valve intended and they're determined to prevent the playing community from dictating how "their" game should be played.

Perhaps all are not aware that 32 player servers and instant respawn have nothing to do with plug-ins you simply add. The server dll's and the maps themselves (some have spawn times built into them) are being "hacked" to make these things possible. Valve's game code is being changed...and it's pissing them off. They don't want newcomers to TF to join a server and believe "that's" how the game is played...and I don't blame them.

I was doing some interesting reading on the FF forums that kind of detailed valve's opinion on why TFC didn't get their love any more. I will try to find the actual thread where those comments were made...but it went something like this.

Exactly how it's starting now in TF2 is exactly how it started in TFC. Plug-ins and mods that changed the game dramatically...NeoTF for example. The loudest voice came from the clanning community...bitching and moaning about how "they" wanted to play the game and what changes they "demanded" of Valve. They got tired of listening...and just turned their back on the game.

I doubt they'll ever turn their back on TF2, but they will certainly take all steps in their power to blind the gaming community to those servers that hack their code to change the game so dramatically.

I see their point actually. I can not imagine playing with 16 man sides on these maps. The spawn delay serves a purpose and is very cleverly calculated to make the game more fair and open. Allowing defenders to instantly spawn, especially near the capture point right at their base must make it almost impossible to ever take that command point. I don't see the sense in it.

A larger game I could probably get by with, but instant spawn changes the game so dramatically...it's not really the same game at all in the end.

They took specific measures to make crits harder to remove. Instant respawn will be another.

I don't think valve needs to stop these people. Why is valve so enforcing of people playing the game their way, and their way only? Can they not admit to others having a valid reason to want to change it? They'll turn people off if this is their thinking. Competitive gaming is getting more popular, and if they turn the competitive gaming(clans) away, they will hurt themselves seriously.
