I start my clinical rotations today, which means I go work with ambulance crews and hospital staff in the ER for so many hours to get in the field experience. Today I have a twelve hour shift at a pretty quiet EMS station, so today could be boring, but it could be pretty busy. It's a day shift, 0630 - 1830. So wish me luck, and lets hope I see trauma and that no patients die. Remember, paramedics save lives, so hug a paramedic today.

Good luck on rotation.

That's a lot of time working and studying toward a career that benefits others. You have my respect. In Buddhism, we would say you are practicing Right Livelihood, or to practice a vocation that relieves the suffering of others.

My buddy started doing EMT stuff as well, and got really into it. Now he wants to train to get his ambulance license and to be a flight medic for the coast guard. Good luck.

Well, the medic watching over me loved me because we only got one call in the whole 12 hour shift. We got it around 1600 and it was an elderly male(older than chips Shocked) that was passed out. He had a bottle of coke and a liter of whiskey next to him. So he got combative, and we just basically transported him, turns out he also had a warrant out for his arrest too. By the time we got the box all cleaned up and ready to go, it was 1825 and pretty much time for me to leave. Saturday should be more fun. Twelve hour night shift at a very busy city(they have 5 medic stations, compared to the one I went to today which only has one), on a weekend. Should be fun.

He liked us though, he was only mildly combative when we got him, but when we left the hospital he was getting extremely combative, in fact they were just about to put restraints on him.

1. YTMND = You're The Man Now, Dog?

2. I don't think that paramedic is qualified. All he did the entire ride here is rub a white backpack on me and yell SPY!!!.

Ok, so I officially have good/bad luck depending on your point of view. I just got off the 1900-0700 shift an hour and a half away, and only got one call the whole time. Which is good if you're the resident medics, but bad if you're a student hoping for trauma. The one call was, sad as it is, a (very minor)cut big toe. I swear it didn't bleed more than a cc of blood. But the crew I was with was great, so that wasn't bad. Back to the 'quiet' EMS station Thursday, maybe something will actually happen then.

Saw the creepiest thing ever Tuesday, or it might've been Monday, either way it was creepy. Guess.
