so yeah, how do i do this? i used my Creative Recorder to record a song from a video so it ends up being 55 megs for a 4:50 song, how do i compress this or wtf do i do to get this down to the normal 5-8 megs for a song? |

What's the extension for the file? Cause 55mb for almost 5 minutes is about 10 megs a minute, which would pretty much be completely lossless. |

It's more than likely a .wav file if it's that size. Convert it to an mp3 file with whatever you use to do that. At 128 kb...you should get the size you want. I believe the Creative software can do that as well. |

the higher kb that i save it as, does that mean the clearer it will be? what does changing that rate do? and yes creative did have what i needed to convert the format. |

The higher kb/s it is, the better quality it is, but 128kbps is a pretty good quality, plenty for any use really. |

Agreed...128 is pretty much for every day use. If you're a real audiophile with high end equipment...192 or higher is suggested. |
