Hey like I just got Guild Wars because it was on sale and it seems like a good casual gaming experience and I was wondering if anybody wanted to help me figure things out or gimme any tips for beginners. Thanks.

Love and Kisses,
Howlingman

sry dude but some of us don't get money from our mommy to pay for monthly subscriptions and can only buy games with free online multiplayer out of the bargain bin at gamestop.

i'll help you with some stuff... which game did you get? (prophecies, factions, or nightfall?)
if i'm on, contact me(press N, and add the player Psychotic God to your friends list)
I do tend to leave gw up though while i'm afk... so if you don't get a response then i'm not just hating on you =P

Fighting monsters does a lot, just not get you skills.

rofl
based on quests?
you don't have to do any of the side quests if you don't want to. if you don't do the side quests, the games are fairly short, shorter than pretty much any other rpg out there.
most rpgs make you sit there for hours killing the same monsters to let you lvl up...

pvp gives you xp... but there isn't much point for that.
yes gw goes to lvl 20.
fighting monsters over and over again gets boring.

well atleast it's not like WoW where all you do is kill millions of monsters over and over again to get experience points. Then while you're in a dungeon the monsters respawn and you have to kill the same one over and over again just to go back to certain points in the dungeon. In my opinion Guildwars is better. Seeing how lame mmorpg's are anyway, Guildwars is only a slight step ahead and in the right direction to something that could be soo much better.

After the Baldurs Gate series, huge pcrpg's started to go downhill. Imo the games focus too much on multiplayer and not enough on story, but guildwars may have gone too far with the story and not enough with the multiplayer. Guildwars has lots of instancing making it impossible to bring more than like four people with you in any area, cutting you off from the rest of the world and making the game no better than any other free online rpg like neverwinter nights. And atleast neverwinter nights has free mods unlike guildwars that cost money every 6 months or less so you can get more content.

It's not a mmorpg if the entire world doesn't have people running around in it. It makes the game too quiet, too artificial feeling, and too lame to play for more than ten out of the supposed 200 hours it would take to complete.

You can easily do the exact same thing you do in guildwars with an old game like baldurs gate 2 or icewind dale 2. On the other hand you get very little or no experience from enemies in guildwars which makes killing them a chore, unlike in WoW. But in WoW they constantly respawn, (especially in hard dungeons) so that the game gets tedious and boring after a time. Taking away the constant respawn of the enemies would make it impossible for other players to do the same dungeon as you without instancing right? Right! And if you instance into dungeons and areas, you can just kill the enemies once, but you see no one else around. Then you're alienated from the rest of the online world for most of the game and soloing becomes preferable. Well then....
Why do people play mmorpg's?- if 1. Games like WoW are annoying as hell until you finally make it up to level 60+ and 2. When no one in their right mind would play guildwars in story mode because it's no better than any other offline pcrpg out there, unfortunately, because of instancing. ????-
