simpsons is one of the best shows ever.
if it wasn't instilled in everybody that cartoons have to be childish things, they really can offer things acting cannot do. 'special effects', 'camera' angles, depth into plot, pushing 'limits' is all possible in animation, most of which would take MUCH more to do in regular TV. you can develop the characters and plot, or do a sitcom(like the simpsons) just like any other series.

Cartoons have "never" been just for the young. In the cold war era...they were used to define, and send a message to adults as well. Rocky & Bullwinkle's Boris and Natasha for instance.

Numerous older cartoons made during or after WWII...same thing...used as a way to lift spirits of the older Americans during and after the war.

Many of todays cartoons have political and social messages as well...that go over the heads of your average "child".

<--- Loves Spong Bob...Ed, Edd & Eddy...Ren & Stimpy...Courage the cowardly Dog...Cow & chicken...and many others.

Never too old. Very Happy

fixed. Much love for The Simpsons, but it's been pretty weak for longer than most shows have been around. They really should have let it end gracefully about 6 seasons ago.

The Simsons WILL NEVER DIE
Matt Groening will just churn out episodes, and no one will like them.

'Toons like King of the Hill and Family Guy (American Dad also, if it keeps getting better) will never go off the air gracefully. Especially Family Guy, which is now once of the most popular shows out there.

If you're 40+ and you watch Dora the Explorer every night,
Then I think it's time for a change.

naruto rocks! Twisted Evil The japanese version is better though because the voice actors in the American show suck.

Both the oldschool Rugrats, the oldschool doug, and Rocco's modern life are the greatest shows ever. Thats all I have to say.

Rocco owns all. Invader zim, allthough not that old, was awesome while it aired.

Metalocalypse is the best animated show on TV. This isn't even discussable.

On the subject of cartoon icons.....

Joe Barbera, half of the Hanna-Barbera animation team that produced such beloved cartoon characters as Tom and Jerry, Yogi Bear and the Flintstones, died Monday, a Warner Bros. spokesman said. He was 95. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

These were some of the best alltime cartoon creations of my day, as Chips will probably agree. Many of the animators of the many cartoons you all have mentioned above, owe a lot to what Hanna-Baebera created and Joe will be sadly missed. Shocked
