A guy I've known for a very long time is banned and does not know why. His steam id is: STEAM_0:0:1757711

As you can see at the top (in red), he was on the pp2 (perfect player 2) list. This was a list of people documented as using a trojan hack, for those not in the loop. When people used it, it secretly sent their info to an IRC channel on a private network.

BUT, as you can also see, right below that he is on UGC and TFL rosters. He is also NOT on the STA Ban List (if he were it would also be noted as a red row).

The reason he is not banned in ANY league is because he proved with logs and demos that he was on a private, locked server with people who knew he was using it. This is type of thing was deemed legal in leagues because it's the only real way of seeing how hacks work and it doesn't disrupt anyone as long as everyone in the locked server knows it is being used.

Before you say anyone who even thinks about hacking should be banned, testing them is the only way to truly see how they are used and thus aid in catching cheaters. Just like you could get an idea of how playing engy works by playing medic against one, but you would never grasp the concept as well as you would by actually playing engy.

Anyway, I assume he was banned for being on the list because I did a search for tys and found nothing. But I think this is one id you should remove from the list because the leagues are, of course, very serious about banning hackers and they let him go because he proved that he didn't disrupt anyone's gameplay and was just trying to learn how they work.

That's probably the correct reason and if he's provided evidence good enough for leagues to accept him back he's fine by me.

Tys was banned on .id servers also due to hacking...If I am not mistaken, (and I might be) he was caught using clear explosion sprites along with a former .id member....He has since been unbanned with .id and seem to be an OK guy, but I suggest keeping an eye on him....
