--Edit (courtesy of kind persuasion by Chips)--
About me, the truncated version:
I'm an Aussie from Sydney and I live within a stones throw of the iconic Manly beach. Despite this don't let that fool you into thinking that I'm a surfing nut hell-bent on finding the perfect wave and riding off into the sunset. Quite the opposite in fact; I'm about 3 months off finishing my Bachelor in Economics but I'm only 20 years old . . . sooooo it'll be going overseas or a job next year but until then I'll be spending my time either on the computer or in a bar in the city.
I'm a TFC nut from the glory days pre steam and I would have started playing just after the implementation of TFC 1.5 mid 2000.
I've never played on anything but a dial-up modem (constant 400+ ping) and I've always played on US servers. In my opinion the Australian servers offer nothing in the way of camaraderie as I see here amongst you people playing at Chips' and what I used to enjoy at Keegs.
Engy, Spy and Sniper (yes, you read right) were my best classes and I used to be part of TAO with Gill who presides here on the forums.
Despite this I'm super rusty and haven't played in a LONG time. I'm getting my gear together to have another swipe at TFC so I look forward to seeing you all on the server soon.
Finally, Hello!! |

I pulled this out of our "spamfest" thread. Thought it might be a good idea as most here don't read that thread (I rarely do) and wouldn't have seen it. And...it would be a good time to introduce another long time keeger straight from Ausieland...Foxtrot.
This guy used to own with a 400+ ping.
Welcome aboard Foxtrot.

Greetings, and I admire you for your playing TFC with 400 latency.
As for how you actually got Steam to work with dial-up, I don't know, but congratulations. |

Thanks for the warm welcome for the stranger!! I really appriciate it.
I went down to the shops today to go and buy another copy of HL because my old one and it's CD Key have gone walkabout. But, alas, the one store I went to didn't have it there. Serves me right for going shopping 10 minutes before the stores close though. I'll try again next week (I work 2 jobs on the weekend and when I'm not working I sleep. With my timetable as it is I get 30 on the job time in the 48 hours from the start of saturday till sunday's end)
@Dark Apple: I never went attempted steam with my dial-up modem and that was the reason that I stopped playing TFC. I now have ADSL so it shouldn't be an issue downloading the program, thankfully.
@Jarrett4: nice to see you're still around and playing. I still remember some of the endless hours playing on Keegs with you. Can't wait to see you on the server and relive the time sof old.
@Chance: The Aussie accent isn't as pronounced as you would think. Years of watching American sitcoms and British TV has left me with a somewhere macabre mash between the local dialect and foreign phraseology which I've picked up from TV. Despite this you could easily pick me up in a crowd of Americans. I'll try and get the mic working for you. |

Welcome!
Are you the same Foxtrot that authored a HL2 fan fiction story in another forum? |

i think i remember he was a spy knife to be afraid of.
i mean with 400 ping he would pop in and kill you, then before 100 sentry guns see him he would be out the base door with my flag and his lag made him still disguised.
jk. i remember it was fun, but dont remember how fun |
