I admin a couple of servers in Europe and I've seen most types of cheats being used so I thought I'd show 3 examples for people who are unclear what to look for.

1. The aimbot :-

Very blatant,note the way the red dot "snaps" to the enemy!!!

This also shows wallhack being used as he regularly "looks" over at the cp1 area through the walls to see who is coming. Bad Idea

I have no idea why the sound is glitched on this demo :S

2. The speedhack :-

Again very blatant.Note that not only is his speed greatly increased...Also his weapons fire very quickly too.

3. The wallhack :-

Harder to spot as this is more subtle...Tracking people through walls is the giveaway.

Watch this with X-Spectate on and you'll cry tears of laughter at this guys stupidity.

After I banned him he came onto our irc channel to complain.At first he completely denied using any cheats but when I explained that I KNEW he had cheated and showed him a small avi I'd made of him cheating he admitted that he'd installed a hack out of "curiosity" for that day only!...

YEAH RIGHT!!!!

That same day he was banned from all Jolt and Wireplay servers for the very same thing...Curiosity my backside!!

Curosity is to test them on a lan whilst in offline mode.

Anyway hope this is helpful.

shirley isn't new Neutral

for newer people do not run x spec, if you leave it on by accident even once your account can be flagged and you can be vac'd. Steam will ban people because its basically a hack Razz

The makers "swear" it won't be detected by steam as a hack...and I've heard peeps used it on live servers while spectating. However, I still don't trust that. It WILL announce it's use on a live server also.

1) Turn off your modem, disable your connection or disconnect your ethernet cable.
2) Launch steam...it will not connect and give you an option to start up in "offline mode".
3) Launch X-Spectate.
4) Launch tfc.
5) Start a lan server in tfc options...on any map...it doens't matter.
6) In console: type "viewdemo <demoname>" OR "playdemo <demoname>"

Viewdemo will give you controls like a VCR to view the demo...sound will be sloppy. Playdemo simply plays the demo...but sounds are heard perfectly. Don't use this on a live server or when connected to steam while online...you "may" be sorry.

If you join a team while X-Spec is running it stops working...It ONLY works in spec mode.

I once joined a team while X-Spec was on by accident...So I asked an ETAC chap about it in IRC (European Team Fortress Admin Council) :-

But it must be running "before" you start TFC. So...you have to leave the server, start it and then come back in Question

I'd just spectate them and record if I saw anything funny. Luckily, we've have VERY few actual cheaters hanging here. I rarely have to spec peeps. Neutral

Yeah..."Dazz" or Darren...has been a long time member. He pops in often enough that we haven't forgotten him.

I still can't call him Shirley in game ... just seems wrong to call a guy by that name. Laughing

now i know what to look for.

I keep getting an error when I try to run x-spectate, it's a memory error Crying or Very sad

It says "X-spectate has suffered a memory corruption and must close"

edit: nevermind, I'm an idiot and was running x-fire when trying to run it.
