I've done some mapping in Radient for Q3 DM style maps so I figured I'd try my hand at a TFC, CTF style map...with one flag. The map should be super fast paced with lots of capture scored, and a complete bloody mess in the "flag-pit". Let me know what you think, heres the quick concept sketch:
I'm still trying to get used to Hammer, it's a bit different than what I'm used to. If anyone can recommend a good set of tuitorials I would be much obliged! |

I think you should put the cap points on level 3 to make it harder |

Like this?
'Cause since theres only one flag, I want the snipers to have a line on the cap point or people approaching it. |

Yeah I think on the last level would make it a rediculous style of combat. |

Ok, I already ran into a problem...How do you make the flag reset once it's been captured? |

WOW, If anyone ever needs help with a CTF or other TF style map this is "hands down" the best tutorial page I have ever read about anything ever: http://www.planetfortress.com/maptutor/
More specifically: http://www.planetfortress.com/maptutor/t1ctf.asp?editor=ented
It's a little oldschool, but even in the newer Hammer editor all the options and settings reffered to are there and everything he talks about can be translated into TFC terms.
In other news, I have the flag pit roughed out. I'm finding that Hammer isn't much different than Radient...all the tools are there, just way less convenient. It's OK tho, I'll post some screenshots of my progress as it comes. |

I'd be glad to throw it on our server to playtest it when you're ready. |

I never played a one flag CTF on TFC but from other games like Quake 3 team arena the middle is full of dead bodies |

Thanks Chips, it's gonna be a while before I have anything remotely testable tho.

DogMode, catch me on AIM and I can show you a very easy way for mapping for you since you're experienced with radiant. |

I'll LOVE to test this map out with you once you make it. |

The "Flag Pit" so far:
The flag is pick up-able, and the two squares on either side of it are the temp/test cap points. I'm still having trouble getting the flag to reset after a capture is made. |
