Hi, I have bought a server. When I am trying to install adminmod, or amxmodx, it doesn't work. I do not know how to do this, can anyone help me? Preferably Chips, since he owns a server too. |

Metamod will install with adminmod...it can't run without it. FYI...(as Spidey obviously knows) adminmod is a metamod plug-in. Metamod is the backbone of adminmod and makes the running of additional plug-ins possible.
Mario...the adminmod installation documentation is written very well with pictures of the folder structures and everything. There is even a vbs script that comes with it that simplifies installation. Configuration on the other hand...is where most of the work lies. Additionally, any decent server host will offer to install this for you. Ask them if they can assist you...that's what you pay them for.
The reason I never covered this in these server threads is that adminmod can be personalized to a great extent. It is fairly easily installed...but will take some time to configure. You really need to sit down with the documentation and understand fully how it works or you'd be lost when and if something went wrong. Not blowing you off here...just explaining why I never documented that here and the importance of fully understanding all it's functions. |

Well, I had them install it, but the problem was before when I installed it manually, just like the documentation noted before. But when I would go to the FTP website to restart the sever, the server would not load up.
So I had them install it, and when they did, the only file in the ftp/tfc/addons/adminmod/config was a vault.ini. Which really wasnt any help because I didn't have adminmod.cfg or anything else you have to use it. Now I can't even change the friendly fire or anything. I don't know what to do, can you insist anything? The only thing my server hosts told me was to edit my files, they didn't give me any specifics. |

In that folder you should have:
adminmod.cfg (holds all custom settings for adminmod)
maps.ini (all your server maps should be listed here WITHOUT the .bsp extension)
plugin.ini (lists all the server plugins)
users.ini (lists all your admins)
vault.ini (you already have this and doesn't need any changes)
wordlist.txt (words that are censored on the server)
Examples of ALL of these files are part of the adminmod installation download. Find them...ftp them to that folder and customize as you choose. |

So I can change friendlyfire from there? In the server I would type these commands
admin_friendlyfire off (didnt work)
admin_friendlyfire 2 (didnt work)
admin_friendlyfire 1 (didnt work)
admin_friendlyfire 0 (didnt work)
admin_ff off (didnt work)
admin_cvar mp_friendlyfire off (didnt work)
admin_rcon mp_friendlyfire off (didnt work)
and all the other friendlyfire ones you can think of.
Now that's the part i'm confused on. I had 14/16 people on my server last night and they all complained about friendlyfire. Any clue how to turn that off? |

Hello,
Try joining your server - pull down the console and type
meta version
^^ will show your version of metamod (if it's running)
meta list
^^ will show what addons are running (adminmod)
Once you know adminmod is working....then
Adminmod should of came with a folder of examples.
You need to edit/make your own of them, especially the
users.ini (which assigns people their admin rights).
A helpful tool for any server is
HLSW
You add your server ip at the top
Then look at the tabs at the bottom:
Add your rcon pass in the box and save it (rcon config tab)
The console tab is where you type any commands Ex: mp_friendlyfire 0
The Changelevel tab - changes maps
..hope that helps some |
