This sounds like some sort of Cookie on your machine, that's how Pop-ups usually get on your machine anyways.

You should wipe your computer, saving all esential information and restarting from scratch. We all should be doing this every 6 months or so anyway. This will perminetly ELIMINATE any non-saved data and files, including any cookies.

I can't reccomend anything, sorry.

What Star said. If it is even only a little problem, i usually reformat becasue i'm too lazy to fix it any other way. Don't forget to create a system restore point to make your life easier.

one more i thought i posted to(i guess i hit preview?)
no cookies are not like that. a cookie is a small text file that a site stores inyour browser cache to remember you next time you visit(this forum uses a cookie to keep you logged in).

use ad-aware(spyware scanner) to scan for adware(bad popup causing program). i did the captionthing on those because the names are so similar, say it too fast and its confusing.

Bad, bad idea. The system restore could have all the bad stuff on it too, and he'd only lose time.

System restore never once worked for me...I leave it off entirely now. Your machine will run quicker also. The last time I formatted (2 1/2 years ago)...it took me almost 4 weeks to get everything loaded, configured and tweaked to perfection. Between internet apps, DVD & TV apps, photo & video editing apps and numerous games...I have over 700,000 files on my computer. Formatting is what I fear most in life. Shocked

No-one wants to Format on their own free time. It's like Yard Work or cleaning the gutters. It's something that isn't really that concerning, yet you have to give up some time to actually do it.

Heck, I must have 49684+ files with nothing in them.
And that's only in my first 80Gb Drive...

Formatting
Bad Idea

I don't know much about system restore...i've only used it once and it helped immensely at that time....but that was a few years back, perhaps it has changed into crap with all the service packs???

I am even now too lazy to make one, I only suggested it Razz . I reformat atleast twice a year, if not more. I admit, it can be a pain, but once you do it so many times and on so many different machines, it becomes second nature. I also take these reformats as opportunities to further tweak my machine and install new devices, which is perhaps why I do it so much Very Happy .

Did you mean: THESAURUS
No standard web pages containing all your search terms were found.
Your search - TAGSAURUS - did not match any documents.
Suggestions:
* Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
* Try different keywords.
* Try more general keywords.
