Well Ive realized along with alot of us regulars that the Main Server is getting crappier and crappier by the second. Not anything to do with people, hackers, maps, or w.e , but the pings are outragous. 4 Days in a row I went to play and the pings went up to the 600-900 for everyone, for a good couple of minutes. Now i know there are plans for that new server chips when is that coming?

Ping spikes have been very bad in the last few days and there were a few times where the whole server/all players went >1 sec ping for few seconds.

I'd still rather play here, even with all you hackers and cheats.

I haven't heard from Chaos' friend Pat in several weeks....since we first discussed setting up a server exclusively for us. I'll send him an e-mail and let you all know what's going on.

I play mostly in the later evening and haven't noticed it being so bad. Surprised

I haven't been having any problems myself, but I did notice the bots lagging real bad. Which to me to is the oddest damned thing. They would freeze, then fly out of sight like they had a speed hack. At first, that's what I thought it was....the second time I saw it, I realized it was a lag-related event, and checked the player....to find out it was a bot.

The bots have always behaved like this for some reason. I have an identical server I run from home...and the bots don't behave that way. Confused

i havent noticed much lag. there was one time that all the players were lagging pretty bad. but the bots on the other hand, they seemed to look like speed hacks alot yesterday, but that was the most

right after i quit that game my internet went down. i was stuck in the air quite some times but the funny thing was i could hear voicecoms perfectly

Might not just be CfH . . .

I got locked out of a full CfH server the other night so I went to Keegs. It was as bad or worse there. Is Keegs hosted in the same location or use the same ISP? Wouldn't surprise me if an ISP or two are throttling the port range for HalfLife. You can't even use some P2P SW any more for the same reason.

On routers you can mark and classify traffic based a million different variables (port range, application, source/dest address, protocol, etc.) - then drop that traffic into a queue that polices BW.

Without any configuration changes to the server, a sudden change in performance doesn't make much sense. But I've noticed it too.

Keegs is located in Northern California. As I've said before, as I'm sure Gilliam has, it is not maintained or monitored by anyone. Keeg just converted the server to steam and doesn't really ever touch it.

im still an admin at keegs Smile

the amx admin plugin has problems sometimes where we cant admin it so we gave up for the most part as keeg has.
i should go bug keeg again about it.

I just got booted from the server for an unknown reason (probably the lag), but jeebus!! 2800 ping!!

This is getting out of control. I might not play TFC till this ping issue resolves.

Who's the ISP serving that hosting center?

I traceroute'd, but can't get the whole path to the server.

I wonder if Chaos's buddy might have added a server or two recently??
