As we all know, the bots on the server are stupid. Not only that, but they are annoying because they have unbelievable aim, they un-cover/kill enemy spies no matter what, lag like crazy, thus skip all over the map and kill you in the process and even at times, have wall hacks. My suggestion is either take them out all together, or make it so we can make a public vote to kick them all. I know this can already be done, but only the admins can do it. What I was thinking was a public command for any non-admin players. Just an idea I thought I'd let fly...

if you shoot at them they aim down. remember that so you can scout nail a bot hw next time Smile
the bots problem has been discussed before and it may be fixed soon.

The reason why chips will never do this: the plug-in that allows this also gives users access to admin_vote_map and admin_vote_kick if you give them access to admin_vote_nobots. After people 'complaining' before about not being able to play maps and what not, this plugin was disabled. And sadly, for some reason, people actually seem to like playing with these bots which have godly aim.

Yeah, to give them the power to kick bots, they'd get to change the map and kick people. There's an admin on MOST of the time anyway, and when we eventually make the move to the new server, that lag problem with bots should probably correct itself. They'll still have godly aim, and potshot the f out of you, but they won't move across the monkey_l yard in 3 seconds.

Their godly aim is dwarfed by their demand at shooting at the floor. Either they shoot directly at me, or straigt down, usually the latter. I notice they shoot at the ground more when they're being shot at, too.

I don't know about everyone else, but my *biggest* problem with them is when they lag, then unlag and shoot you like 50 times in a tenth of a second, and your pretty much dead.

i dont know why this topic continues to come up. Chips has said multiple times that bots bring people on. i know when i come on and no one else is on, i stay cause at least there are bots. i say leave it the way it is. yes they can be annoying but you take the good with the bad.

The bots are stupid because they are now set to their lowest possible skill level. That's why they shoot at the ground when you encounter them and the medic bots walk around you in a circle when you need healing. The bots won't notice a spy 95% of the time if you feign.

Set at medium level...the bots heal you without even calling for them, kill you in a second and recognise spys even if you feign. They're set as they are now to be tolerable to play with. As far as their "lag" or "maxtrix" style of movement...I still don't know why this happens. The main server is an exact duplicate of my home server in every way...every file is identical. The DO NOT behave this way on my home server. Perhaps the move to our new server will fix this. It's more the machine we're on and it's connection...than anything wrong with the bots themselves.

There is no voting plug-in (automatic) to handle the bots that exists now. If anyone has any expertise in writing server plug-ins...I'd be glad to take a look. There is a hook mod voting plug-in on the server that is disabled. That code could probably be used to function for this purpose if anyone cares to take a crack at it.

odds are, you could replace anything thats like "rcon_df_hook_on 0" to "rcon_bots_off_1"

Bolded the most appropriate areas, all the df_hook_on #s.

Change those to whatever RCON is for kicking bots (without "rcon_", apparently, since the exec does that.

The text things would need adjustment too. I'm not a great programmer, so I might mess something up. I'll give adjustments a whirl though, but I'm not gonna bother changing the stuff like "HOOK_VOTE_RATIO" to BOT_VOTE_RATIO cuz I'm pretty sure it'll still operate the same.

That part I didn't change. I only knew the rcon for kicking bots, not for turning them on/off, so.... adjustments still need to be made. Where it says "sv_gravity 800" used to be "df_hook_on #" since that's the rcon for on/off, and I dunno rcon for bots on/off
