I'm sure many of you have seen my lag spikes which are almost identical to the bots on the server(except i don't have the haxxor auto-aim that they do...)

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas on how this could be fixed, i'm up for the idea.

My connection:
Road Runner DSL
I wirelessly connect to a router in the room next to mine.

From there, ask questions and i'll give you any answers you need.

This isn't a huge thing for me - i've learned to deal with it - but if someone can offer ideas, i'm more than thankful for any help.

I had an issue somewhat similar to this when I first set up my wireless router, except I was hardwired to the router. I disabled the windows firewall and the symantec firewall that came with my computer and everything works fine now.

i've long since learned that my firewalls make it almost impossible for me to do anything... i've stopped using windows firewall, which i'm pretty sure is/was my only firewall.

How far are you from the router? Is there any interferance from other devces...phones etc. (they're on the same band). How many (if any) walls are between you and the router. All these things matter with wireless.

Try (if you can) to move the location of the router or your computer...see if that helps. Without a clear signal...wireless can jump from 54mb down to 8mb and back again. That's what's causing your spikes.

Wow...that's pretty close. Couple of things...the phone being that close to the router could be a major cause of interference. Being that wall is an interior wall...I doubt it's too thick to cause a problem. (We have a wall with a section of brick for the dumbwaiter that causes problems)

So I'd unplug that phone just to see if it is involved. That one should be easy enough to test...it would only take a few minutes. If you're really that close...I'd just drill a small hole in the baseboard and hardwire the sucker. Good Idea

well, in that map, the phone is somewhere close to where the e in office is. i'll try disconnecting the phone when i get a chance later.
hardwiring is something i might have tot ry to tempt my step-dad into...
