ok so i need more ram for pc. right now there is 512 MB DDR SDRAM, 333 MHz in there now. so i was surfin the net for same type and came across this type, but one has PC2100 and the other PC2700 in the discription.
What is this PC spec, and how do i know which one i have?
also can you have one chip at 333MHz, and the other say at 400MHz? or do they have to be the same MHz all round.

thanks all for input

PC2100 is ddr266mhz and PC2700 is ddr333mhz and PC3200 is ddr400mhz. You can run the 400 with your 333 but it will run at the lower 333mhz bus rate also generally the higher the bus rate the higher the price. So if you have PC2700 I would stay with PC2700. I have two different sticks of PC2700 and my bus speed is at 333mhz but they are different brands and are only compatible at 266mhz in DDR mode(frustrating)I am too cheap to go by two matching memory sticks so until then that is what I live with.

hope this helps

get a 1GB PC3200 dual channel set for about $90 to $120. if your comp cant do dual channel, it will still function as non dual channel and you will be ready when/if you upgrade to a dual channel capable mainboard later on.

look for these names.
kensignton
corsair
Geil

as for the old ram, place it in another comp that can handle ddr(or save it to put back in this mobo per the above mobo upgrade Razz )
