Got this error when I try to join any server in TFC. This is following a steam update that ran when I started steam. Anyone else get this or anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance... Crying or Very sad

Found this on the steam forums...don't know if it will help. It may be one of these two scenarios.

Question
I get this error: 'Debug Assertion Failed Program: steam.exe' when I try to start Steam

Answer
X-Fire Problem
If you are getting this error and you have X-Fire installed, please uninstall X-Fire from the Add/Remove in your Control Panel.

You must reboot after uninstalling this to remove the network hijack that X-Fire installs.

Compatibility Mode Problem
If you are getting debug assertion errors then there is a very good chance that you have Steam.exe or HL.EXE running in compatibility mode under WinXP.

You need to change this back to normal mode by right-clicking on Steam.exe & HL.EXE, select properties and then there is a tab where you'll see "compatibility mode" options.

You need to uncheck "Run this program in compatibility mode" then hit apply. The next time your run the game you should no longer see that error.

Naughty X-Fire!

On a unrelated note, T: ? You don't really have that many drives/partitions, do you?

I appreciate the help guys, thanks Good Idea

I also checked the steam forums and wasn't able to find anything relating to this issue. I do not have X-Fire installed and I am not using compatability mode. What I ended up doing was re-installing steam to a new location on my HD. I've copied all of the maps, sounds, and player models from the old location to the new location. After completing that, it worked fine. Go figure...

Again, thanks for the help... Good Idea Good Idea Good Idea Very Happy
