Hi, I have HLstats running, if you guys want to put your servers on it, feel free to ask. For those of you that don't know, HLstats is a REAL TIME Half-Life statistics program that runs server side. It has multiple mod support, and also gives out awards. Players are logged by ID's, and can set up their own profile too.

It's only at testing at the moment, I'm not sure if it's even allowed on my hosting Very Happy but if it is, it'll be permanently up.

You managed to get this installed on your webhost Question

From HL Stats Faq:
Q: Is it possible to install HLstats only via FTP?
A: Yes. But you need PHPmyadmin and shell/telnet/ssh/crontab access to run and install HLstats.

From my providers Faqs:
We do not provide shell/SSH access. Sorry.

My host uses PHPmyadmin, but as you see...I would not have shell/SSH access.

Even if I did...my provider uses Apache and I can create the MySQL database...but I'd have to install and configure PHP4, Perl, DBI and the DBD MySQL Perl Module seperately...wouldn't I. Question Using ActivePerl or IndigoPerl would be easiest...but not an option as it would include Apache and MySQL.
And since I don't have the required access needed anyway...moot point.

Since I don't believe you'll be running a TFC server, I'd be willing to add your addy to the server config to send it some data and test it if you wish.

I think I'm having some firewall issues, trying to look for an open port on that server haha

My webserver, the provider I'm with may be limiting ports for security.

You DO need SSH access to start the HLstats perl process on linux. On windows, you need remote desktop, or the ability to execute a program.

Activeperl, is just a perl demon on it's own. It doesn't come with Apache or MySQL, that's IndigoPerl. It's extremely easy to install new modules for perl with the package manager too.

I just remembered, that you probably won't want your server on my HLstats for this simple reason: for it to work properly, here is the server addition procedure:

1: Add the server to the HLstats server, including the server name, ip, port, mod, and rcon password. For servers on dynamic IP's, it is very tricky, since it does not allow you to insert a hostname under the IP field.

2: Add the following line below your "log on" command, which should be in autoexec.cfg, NOT server.cfg: logaddress_ad 67.18.208.130 27500

As you can see, for real time stats, both the rcon password, and log forwarding are required, and unless people trust me with rcon passwords, I don't blame you if you don't want your server up Wink

That's what I thought. I knew you ran a server from your home. I currently don't...and won't even try since my ISP already snagged me once for running a game server.

It would be a different story if I had access to a server directly...the install doesn't seem that bad. There are simply no options available for me to install this...currently.

I'd have no problem giving you the info you would need to try it out...I believe I can trust you with it. Rcon passwords can always be changed if things didn't work out. Razz

Damn I must be doing something right if you can trust me with that kind of info Surprised Very Happy

BTW, I'll try and get it working with my home Sven-Coop server. Once that works, including the firewall issue on the webserver side (it's not my home side that's the problem), I'll let you know, and show you the kind of data it produces.

You can see a sample on my ISP's game service, "Wireplay": http://tfc.wireplay.co.uk/hlstats.php
