Lol @ the army. Just lol. I don't put anyone who is in the army on a pedastal, that's their decision to do what they want, we all make sacrifices, you aren't the only ones. You aren't better than anyone else because you are in the army. LOL. |

to be fair to td, there was nothing in that particular post that indicated which branch, and many people (erroneously) use the word "army" as a generic term to refer to the military |

Also. from what I've seen, it's not the people in the Military walkng around saying, "Praise me! Praise me!" It's random people seeing them, and being like, "They are better than anyone else, and deserve special treatment, they're way more important than our teachers and local law enforcement." |

True, although you do ocasionally get those egocentric pricks that do think they're better than everyone else, but no one really likes them. |

I did mean military, and while i do agree that being technical is imporant, I'm sure you all could tell what I was getting at. I'm not pointing fingers at any specific person, but what I'm saying is that there is so much important in the media nowadays about the military, about supporting them no matter what, and that is bullshit. You can still take a stand and have it mean something, and you can still make tremendous sacrifices without 'serving our country' as people call it. You wann know who really SERVES our country....thats right--the people in the RESTARAUNT BUSINESS, THAT'S WHO SERVES. |

I support them for putting their lives at risk to defend my freedom. The fact is, I do not want to do that myself. They don't need to be put on a pedastal, but I don't see why we can't respect them for doing what they do. I can't think of a sacrifice more tremendous than one's life. Sure, some of those joining right now might be doing it because they don't think we will end up in a war soon, but the fact is, if we do their lives are at huge risk.
There's no reason to support all of the choices of the military (or the higher ups who make said choices), or all of its actions, but what why not support those who are putting themselves at the frontlines so that we are not ourselves? |
