I don't think it is so much the idea or tradition of the day that irks people. It has become an event which is now commercially driven and as such there is more emphasis on consumerism and presents than "love".
Precisely. Good Idea

Even Christmas has become so commercial...it's truly hard for me to enjoy it any more. Nothing new though...A Charlie Brown Christmas makes the same observations...this from a show from the 1960's. Running around for weeks shopping, decorating and running yourself into the ground...all for one day. Shocked

Your should treat your partner like every day is valentine's day...your mom and dad like every day is mother's or father's day. These "special" days to remember family and loved ones...should be EVERY day. Cool

No, I remembered it. Gf decided to get back with her ex at 2:30 am on the 15th, not even 20 minutes after I left her place. I just found out.

Wow, holy crap that sucks! F*** her. If she's gonna do that to you, she doesn't deserve to even breathe the same air as you. God dammit! I f***ing HATE people like that! AGH! They make me so angry!!!! How hard is it to NOT CHEAT ON SOMEONE?

...sorry, I got a little over emotional.

I always figured V-Day let you not have to deal with arguing about little things for a week or two.

Boy was I wrong.

So v-day its self wasn't bad, and even the next couple of hours after it. Then I hear nothing for two days, after I had planned a nice surprise for her when she got home. The next things I hear were just lovely.
