Raaa, I went out and bought a new Linksys router because you know I have a linksys wireless card and I cant get internet! I can connect to the router just fine and fast but It wont give me internet its the Wmp54G I think but I bought it because this one wireless router my mom got for free keeps cutting out on my computer every 20 minutes or so if not more. Sometimes It will cut out 4 times in 5 minutes! Crying or Very sad I cant find the manual to the stupid thing so I cant actually access this D-link router. its the only thing I can use to get online sorta... Anyone have any ideas? Could it be from my 64 bit? I know I had to use the Ralinktech 2500's Drivers on my computer as the Linksys werent compatible with 64bit D:. So any advice/help would be great Very Happy

You could try the manufacturers site for manuals and such. Knowing that you didn't use the products "prefered" software (drivers)...will leave you little room for peeps to help. It simply wasn't designed (although, it may work) for that product.

if the dlink model is "di-624" then its a POS.
as for your linksys, you need to configure it to your internet connection.
go to http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 and enter "admin" in the pw box.
DSL: if sbc/att or other w/ "PPPoE" then you need to enter your dsl user and pw into the router.(some DSL like Softcom doesnt use pppoe; see cable below instead)
Cable: leave the internet setting to "DHCP"
DO NOT FORGET TO SECURE YOUR WIRELESS!Smile

The drivers that I used were just for my wireless card, and the chip set on my W-card is Ralink 2500 Razz its just a 64 bit version. So I think it should work fine. Lol secure my net? Whos gonna steal it, the buffalos? Very HappyVery Happy Also gill I dont have dsl or cable I have a wireless internet by a local company in the hills a ways away it shoots the net to my dish type thing and bam net Razz So I wouldnt know what to choose D:

then it depends on what your Wisp does to connect you. automatic "dhcp" of the internet part of the router, or still PPPoE to log in like a dsl modem.
go see www.softcom.net Fixed wireless
we use:
Motorola Canopy antena that goes up to 10 miles(actual 7~8 miles)
weatherproof ethernet cable
PoE(Power over Ethernet) injector to give the canopy power
... then it goes to either a single comp or a router w/ pppoe login.

I set my Linksys on fire, then I realized it could be used to set up a hardwire. I fretted over the wireless for SO long.

lol.

I would reccomend Netgear instead of Linksys.
Way better.

Otherwise, go with the direct connection.

Damnit, Gill. I rely on those people to let me go to Chips Fun House when I'm travelling.
