Chips' Fun House ~ View topic - Half-Life 2 CTF Beta v1.7 Full Client

Has anyone tried this out yet? They seem to have about 10 diff maps and they sure look sweet!!!

Its a 97 meg download and all you need to play it is HL2, so Im downloading it now as I work in the yard.....I'll let you all know what I see when its all done. Smile

If you look at some of my last comments...I really felt they ruined the mod by adding so much crap to it that it really wasn't very good imo. I used to run a server for it and haven't played it since version 1.5. Perhaps I'll give it a shot again...I really did like it initially.

I've downloaded the client and updated server installations. If I do get this up and running again, it will be just like the CS:Source server I run occasionally...pw protected for our community users only.

At least that way...I know we'll have fun playing it together and won't have some of those eliteist players we've had visit us in the past pwning us. Laughing

Welp. came in from working on the house and it had downloaded.....and with the 2 comments you guys gave, I wasnt expecting much. I had never played this before so I didnt know what to think. Alas, I saw quite a few servers and some were actually close to full, so I tried it, and whoa.....pretty sweet I must say.
The 2 maps I tried were kinda dark, even with brightness turned up, but still its a nice change......if only I didnt die every time someone came near me. HAHAHAHAHA Lemme know if you guys are gonna retry or jump on it some time as Id like to give it a real try with people I know. Good Idea

The real problem I had last time we ran this...is that it lagged like crazy. Previous server installs ran fine...I still think it was all the crap they added to the mod.

I checked servers this morning...only 35. All empty but two that had a total of 20 players. That was about the number of servers one year ago...but I remember most were populated. Obviously, this mod has not grown at all since development...a telling tale for it's future.

This does seem to be a very small community. I don't see it growing any larger.

I've been playing this mod on the side a little. Love the graphics, but don't think it's going to take off much. I also like when we ran the CS server. If anyone ever wants to branch out a little into these mods, please keep me posted...

Or was it the one where you went out and got the Collector's Edition?

I went out and got the Collectors Edition.....for $35 at Circuit City. Gotta love "Clearance Sales". Laughing
