1. Download Jeds Half Life Model Viewer [Later Refered to as|[Jeds-or-HLMV] |
A. JHLMV Page
B. Download
Code: |
2. Install Jeds Half Life Model Viwer.
3. Open a model which you desire to make transparent.
A. To do this you could either
A1. Find a .mdl right click and find JHLMV.exec and open it with it.
A2. Open JHLMV and File>Open your .mdl
|**|My model will be "v_tfc_shotgun.mdl"
4. After you opened your model you should have a screen like mine.
A. This is your model at the moment. |
Code: |
5. Now click on the "Textures", than click on the drop down menu.
A. These are all the textures that make up your model
|
Code: |
6. Now simply for every texture you would like transparent just check the "Additive" box.
7. After you have had made all desired textures "Additive" you could preview your weapon
by clicking on the "Model Display" tab.
8. If you are pleased with your weapon simply
File->Save Model As..-> and search for the exact model you opend in my case it would
be "v_tfc_shotgun"
9. And thats it, as simple as that. Enjoy transparenting your models |

i'm sure that is a very good step-by-step walkthrough of the process, but i cant even open the program to do any of it, "This application has failed to start because MSVCP71.dll was not found", i'm guessing its just me....used the download link you put on this post, unzipped, error....so i dunno |

Use the model viewer/editor that comes with the HL1 SDK downloadable through STEAM and follow Nirvana's instructions starting with number 3. |

Badace...that dll probably just needs to be registerd properly in the windows registry for the program to work correctly. I can't remember (cause I'm at work) the exact command done at a command prompt.
Just google "registering a dll in windows" to find instructions on how to do so. |

Hey Nirv 2 questions.
First is this a good tutorial for reg. HLMV?
And second can this process be reversed? Like takeing a trans parent model and making it non trans?
Also I am having a problem with putting the Tag on my RPG. I save the .bmp that I want to add the tag onto on my desktop and everything. Then I open it with Photoshop to put the tag on it and save it. Then when I import the tagged .bmp back into the model the tag is backwards and I dont know how to fix this. Any suggestions? Maybe a simple flip the text in photoshop or some thing? |

cant do it in regular HLMV ... need to have Jed's HLMV . regular HLMV doesnt have additive checkboxes and doesnt allow you to save i dont think.
and yes try flipping it in photoshop. |

Chaos, for my RPG model with the -[CfH]- on it, I just wrote it in backwards, but flipping it works fine too |

Well to be honest i dont know how to flip text around in photoshop. I did flip the .bmp around and added the text to it and it sort of worked out ok but the C and The F is backwards. I might try to flip the .bmp around and then put the text backwards and see if that works. |

Nirv I downloaded your Transparent RPG and added the -[CfH]- tag to it. With your tips it looks good.
Now if only PS will let me make the type red i would be all set but for some reason it only lets me do black. And yes i did try to pick the color of the type but for some reason even if i pick red it turns out black. |
