Okay, so I'm on a Wireless Internet link, and Sometimes I can't even recieve from the Router. So Somedays it would work, others it won't. We have to take off the Encryption so that I have a chance of recieving the signal, but then people can steal our Cable. If anyone has any idea on what can be done, I'd appreciate it.
Very Happy

Many things could be wrong here...you'd have to tell us more about the overall set-up. Don't take off WEP or WPA...whichever you're using. That has nothing to do with signal strength...which is the sole reason it drops occasionally.

Try moving the router (if you can). Try moving your computer...again, if you can. Try also moving the antenna(s) on the router. Put one straight up...the other at a 45 degree angel...try different angles. Kinda like the old rabbit ear tv antenna's.

Last...you may want to try a booster antenna to increase the signals strength.

move any 2.4GHz cordless phones(new ones within the last 4 years) away from the computer. both wifi and the above cordless phones use the same frequency(yup, 2.4 ghz).

if your computer can see any other wireless signals inthe area, try changing the router to broadcast on a different channel. your router can do channels 1 to 11, but only 1, 6, and 11 dont overlap each other.

how far from the router are you? dont be farther than 4 rooms, 2 floors, and 10 walls away(lol guestimate).

last, try... http://j-walk.com/other/wifispray/
