Ad Aware is pretty good, and free.
www.lavasoft.com
Go to the left side of the page and download Ad-Aware Personal. Let it update as soon as you install.
Also, and importantly, make sure when it first starts up, that you check PERFORM FULL SYSTEM SCAN.....takes a minute or so longer, but covers your whole system. |

| i would run adaware, and do. But i would also get spybot. it picked up stuff after i ran adaware. |
