www.dynu.com
free subdomain ip redirector.
example gilliam.dynu.com will get you to my server at any time no matter what the IP is.
how it works: you install and run their program, enter the username and pw you seetup w/ them. it wil check your ip address every so often and update dynu's DNS info to point your subdomain to your current IP address.
the software is small and legit(no malware of any kind last time i dloaded it).
this is only one of the many dynamic ip things out there but its the one i use Smile

I prefer www.no-ip.com myself. I use No-IP and www.dyndns.org

My router has a built in DynDNS client Very Happy pot luck Wink

I have:
cg1.no-ip.com < No-IP
reecehome.homeip.net < DynDNS

Try them Smile

http://cg1.no-ip.com
ftp://cg1.no-ip.com
http://reecehome.homeip.net
ftp://reecehome.homeip.net

Note: My pc must be online Wink

You can set up the No-IP or DynDNS duc how you like.

If your on a direct modem, it will listen for IP changes and update when the modem's IP changes.

If your behind a router, proxy, or some other NAT, you set it to check every x minutes.

So doesn't this mean that if you ip ban someone they can go throught this process, change their ip and come back in with a new personality ? Doesn't this help the hackers in a way? Rolling Eyes

no, because the players don't access the server from a dns but from their ip.
